Park Regulation and Access Changes

Hi Summerside!

As indicated in our original announcement on June 25th, as of July 1st the Summerside Residents Association started a gradual easing of restrictions and access to our park, which aligned with the approach the City of Edmonton has taken with many of its outdoor amenities. The original announcement and details can be found here:

Summer 2021 Plan – Lake Summerside

We are happy to announce that, as of today, July 13th 2021, we will be taking another step forward into the easing of our restrictions in our Park. Details of the changes can be found below. These changes are effective immediately.

*Note that we may have to alter and adjust specifics of our operating plan if public health orders change, or new information is provided to us.

HOURS OF OPERATIONS

Our opening hours will now re- align with the opening hours prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, on weekends and statutory holidays, the Beach Club will now open at 9am. Full details on facility hours are below.

• Office Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Closed Statutory Holidays.

• Beach Club Park Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00 am – 9:30 pm | Saturday-Sunday and Statutory Holidays 9:00 am – 9:30 pm

• Entry Park Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00 am – 9:00 pm | Saturday-Sunday and Statutory Holidays 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

GUEST ACCESS AND CAPACITY

At this time, the SSRA will take another step forward with allowing guest access. Starting immediately, guest access will be as follows:

MONDAY – FRIDAY (excluding statutory holidays)

Each household can bring 5 guests without booking as walk ups.

The definition of a guest will also now be reverting back to what it was prior to the COVID -19 pandemic. Thus, a guest is defined as anyone who is not a Lake Summerside Resident. However infants (0-1 year of age/ not yet walking) will not count as a guest.

WEEKENDS & STATUTORY HOLIDAYS

Each household can bring 2 guests without pre-booking, as walk-ups. Households may book up to 3 more guests using the booking system currently in place. There will be up to 90 bookable guest spots per day.

RESIDENT ONLY TIME and PARK CAPACITY

After careful monitoring of our hourly park usage, effective immediately, there will no longer be a restriction limiting guest access into the park until after 1pm. Guests may now enter at anytime that the park is open.

Though we’re removing the opening-1PM resident only time, we are still maintaining a capacity that is similar to Summer 2020 of 350 people until 1PM, in order to offer a quieter time for those who continue to find this important. After 1pm, our park capacity will increase to 500.

If you are curious about the current entry status related to capacity, you can call the gatehouse at 780-756-6772.

For those of you who have already booked guests this week, your reservation is no longer needed, and you may bring in up to 5 guests as walk ups.

We continue to have restrictions on guest access on weekends and statutory holidays not to dampen the enjoyment of the park for residents and their guests, but rather to preserve its availability for those who pay to use it. These guests access rules continue to be in place in order to strike a balance between those who enjoy the ability to bring guests to our beautiful facility, and those who currently want the SSRA to maintain tight guest access restrictions at this time.

HOW TO BOOK GUESTS

ADJUSTMENTS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER

The SSRA is excited to continue to progress our organization forward towards normal operations. Thus, Directors, Executive, and Management will be discussing and adjusting guest access and capacity, and other rules and operations throughout the summer.

Please go to lakesummerside.ca > About Us > Summer Rules and Regulations, consistently throughout the summer for the current rules and regulations

CONCLUSION

The plan in place continues to be designed to represent, and find a balance of, all of the different views of the many residents of Lake Summerside. We thank you for your patience and understanding. As representatives of the community, our Board of Directors care about your thoughts and opinions. If you have any feedback, please email manager@lakesummerside.ca with your thoughts. That feedback will be shared with the Board of Directors who meet regularly, and used to help guide future policy decisions.

See you at the beach!
